Calendars with different amounts of days?
« on: October 03, 2009, 13:40:50 »
Has the length of the year changed and if so how?

The number of days in the year seems to have changed throughout the Earths recorded history.  If our Solar System is a stable clockwork then this is very strange as recording the days in the year should not mean large errors. Especially as the ancient cultures could build such amazing buildings.

For example the Tzolkin (Tzolk'in) calendar was a 260-day Mesoamerican calendar and the Indan Veda texts record the days in the year as 360 as do many other ancient calendars.

This would seem to mean that the length of our year has changed. But how?

The Historical Record

The length of the Year - We might expect astronomers who thought the length of the year had changed to keep careful records of the previous values. In AD 150, Ptolemy[3] recorded the following values measured by earlier Greek astronomers:

Meton and Euctemion in 423 BC 365 + 1/4  +1/176 days
Callipus in 340 BC 365 + 1/4 days
Hippaarchus in 160 BC 365 + 1/4  -1/300 days
Ptolemy in AD 150 365 + 1/4  -1/300 days

- which is the value that Pope Gregory's astronomers used in constructing the Gregorian calendar. which we still use, even though Toomer [4] and Ferguson [5] both state that the present value is 365 + 1/4 -1/128 days. Even Copernicus, observing in AD 1515 [6], stated that the year had already had this length during the 633 years between his time and Al Battani's careful measurements, which lattter were, therefore, made in AD 882.

It is interesting to note that in AD 75 Plutarch wrote: "In the reign of Romulus the year was 360 days long [7] and in AD 80 wrote: in an interaction with Hermes the year gained 5 1/4 days and 12 lunar months lost 6 days." [8]

John Wells [9], head of the team investigating the effect of the atomic bomb explosions on coral in the Pacific Ocean, claimed to be able to distinguish both daily and yearly variations in the growth rings of coral. He reported that, in the Devonian Era there had been 400 days in the year, in the Pennsulvanian Era the year had consisted of 387 days and prior to 5000 BP the year had been 360 days long.

It does, therefore, appear that the number of days in the year has changed over the centuries.

Differing Calendars

Quote
Differing Calendars

While we often marvel at the ability of the ancients to accurately measure and record the heavens, we are equally perplexed by some apparent basic errors. A number of ancient calendars list 360 days in a year, probably explaining the origin of 360 degrees in a circle? Prior to this, some calendars listed only 260 days in a year, bearing no relation whatsoever to the natural cycles of the present era! Why was this? Are these really errors, or did the heavens move on different cycles in the not so distant past?

Of course, such an idea is anathema to modern day astronomers, who speculate that our solar system has remained more-or-less steady and constant for millions of years.

Chinese mathematicians are known to have based their geometry, as we do, on a 360 degree circle based on the annual movement of the sun, and to have then tried to modify the geometry to accommodate the 365·25 days of the current year.

In the Middle East, the Chaldeans of the NeoBabylonian empire, experts in astronomy in the first millennium BC, also had a year of only 360 days and a Zodiac of 36 decans, each section of which was traversed by the sun in 10 days. The Assyrians used a year of 360 days.

The Indian texts of the Veda use a year of 360 days divided into 12 months of 30 days. From approximately 700 BC, the Hindus used a civil year of 365·25 days but retained the sacred year of 360 days for religious purposes.

Similarly, the Persians used a year of 360 days until the 7th century BC, when they added 5 extra days. Although they assumed the sun rose through a different aperture each day, they retained the concept of 360 apertures without adding extra ones for the extra 5 days.

The Egyptian Canopus decree of 238BC refers to an earlier period when 5 days were added to the year to bring it to 365 days. The Romans at the time of Romulus had a year of only 360 days.

The Maya counted their 'year' as being 18 months of 20 days. The 360 day year also survives in the Long Count system of 'tuns'.

In every case, the additional 5 days were added to the year of 360 days and were thought to be unpropitious.

Do Flemings Hand Rules show the orbit of the planets and why our Calendar lengths have changed?

If it is an Electric Universe and the Sun is an Electric Sun this would help explain many things about the Sun but especially why the planets are on the same plane. If gravity can affect in all directions then why are the planets not orbiting all at different angles?

If the Solar Systems electrical power energy changed or individual planets changed then this may mean the system needs to balance out or change and the planets may move orbit to adjust.

Hermes being the name for the planet Mercury. This is the planet that is suspected of having interacted with the Earth in the Polar Cunjunction (youtube video - part 3 sample of "Symbols of an Alien sky") and perhaps as the Squatter Man (youtube video - part 2 sample of "Symbols of an Alien sky") and the Tree of Life (Axis Mundi).

It may be Flemings Left Hand Rule or Flemings Right Hand Rule but one of them does explain the planets orbits  in our Solar Systems

Venus, Moon and the Tzolkin Calendar - by John Major Jenkins
« Reply #4 on: October 29, 2009, 11:31:15 »

Quote
What follows is a brief summary of concepts relating to Mayan cosmology I explored in my recent book Tzolkin: Visionary Perspectives and Calendar Studies  (Borderlands Science Research Foundation, Garberville, CA, 1994). The Maya were privy to a profound understanding of the cosmos just now being deciphered. There are a couple of basic properties that really bring home the deeper meaning of the Mayan Calendar, the tzolkin . There are straightforward connections between the cycles of Venus, the moon and the tzolkin. For example, the 260-day cycle can be used to predict eclipses in the following way. Eclipses occur, on the average, every 173.33 days. This is known as the "eclipse half-year." Three of these equal 520 days, and this is exactly two tzolkins. Thus, it was very easy for the ancient skywatchers to predict eclipses with the 260-day cycle. Furthermore, Venus is visible as morningstar for about 258 days. In general, the tzolkin is the key to a larger calendric system which can predict many astronomical cycles of the moon and planets.

On the other hand, the 260-day cycle also relates to cycles that are closer to home, so to speak. Barbara Tedlock, in her book Time and the Highland Maya (1982), tells us that there is a 260-day period between the planting and harvesting of corn in the highlands of Guatemala. Most importantly, the period of human gestation is roughly 260 days. The modern Quiche daykeeper Andres Xiloj explicitly offers this as an explanation for the tzolkin's meaning. So, the tzolkin relates as much to organic processes on the earth as to celestial cycles in the heavens. Here we have the core of the tzolkin's incredible properties: it unites terrestrial and celestial processes under one principle. Said another way, the tzolkin contains a single principle which operates equally in both the sky and on earth. Of course, this is really the "as above, so below" principle of astrology, but Mayan cosmology developed this insight with great ingenuity and sophistication. It should also be said that the tzolkin is therefore less of a human invention, and more of a profound insight into the organizational tendencies within nature. As such, it is a kind of Mayan "Unified Theory," based upon a clear insight into universal processes. This is the general framework I have developed in my work with the tzolkin.

Venus has a profound relationship with the core principle of the tzolkin. In my books on the tzolkin I have put forward the notion that the principle at the core of the 260-day cycle is none other than the Golden Proportion. I argue this by looking at the mathematics and the philosophy of the Golden Proportion, and compare it to what we know, and the Maya themselves offer, about the tzolkin. The Golden Proportion is a unique principle in nature. It determines the spirals in pine-cones, seashells, the geometry of the human body and appears in many other organic processes. In the words of Jose Arguelles, it is the principle of "self-same similarity." So, it's not strictly about spirals. The Golden Proportion is best understood in terms of "repeating patterns at successive scales," nestled chinese dolls, and musical harmonies. In human terms, reproduction itself is a process ruled by the Golden Proportion. Like the cumulative spirals on a sea shell, each successive human generation is based about what came before, yet is one step further on in the process. What I'm getting at here is simple: The Golden Proportion is a much under-rated principle in nature, and it is responsible for most of the tzolkin's properties.

I'd prefer not to get too involved in the mathematics of this in this brief article, but the relationship between the Golden Proportion and the tzolkin is actually quite simple. The Golden Proportion is usually approximated as 1.618, and is symbolized by the Greek letter PHI (rhymes with "why"). One of the qualities of this number which defines it as unique is the fact that 1.618 x 1.618 = 1.618 + 1. (In other words, PHI-squared = PHI + 1). The result is 2.618. Numerology comes into play here, because 2.618 x 100 = 261.8, which approximates the tzolkin cycle. The formula is quite simple, and underlies the amazing relationships we've already discussed: 100 times PHI squared approximately equals 260. I've received some questions about the validity of this claim, mostly on the grounds that it is not precise. The discrepency is less than 1/2 percent, not bad for any model, and the notion is supported completely by the phenomenological similarity between the tzolkin and the Golden Proportion. For example, both determine cyclic processes on earth and in the sky. We've already discussed how the tzolkin does this, as well as the relationship of the Golden Proportion to organic processes in nature. The Golden Proportion relates to celestial patterns when we remember the work of Johannes Kepler, who created his "Harmony of the Spheres" model of the solar system based upon the 5 Platonic Solids and the Golden Proportion. Kepler's theory provided a good model for the planets known in his day. More specifically, the movements of Venus and the sun provide an approximate reference to the Golden Proportion, in two ways. A cycle of Venus is said to begin with its morningstar appearance, which happens once every 584 days. Five of these cycles occur in exactly eight years. Thus, the sun and Venus have a 8:5 relationship, and 8/5 = 1.6. This approximates the 1.618 of the Golden Proportion. Even more compelling is the amazing fact that because of this relationship, Venus traces a five-pointed star around the ecliptic every 8 years! The pentagram of Old World wicca has its esoteric roots in this fact, probably going back to Egypt and the Chaldeans. Furthermore, the pentagram contains within it geometrical divisions precisely equalling 1.618.

I'm focussing on this Venus information because I want to clarify this aspect of my book, Tzolkin: Visionary Perspectives and Calendar Studies . In Chapter Two, probably the most difficult chapter, I reconstruct the Venus Calendar of the ancient Maya. The modern Maya have lost the ancient Venus calendar, and what I present is a reconstruction based upon the simplest criteria. Thirteen of the 8-year pentagram cycles equal the Venus Round of 104 years. This is an important "big" cycle, because it represents the synchronization of the tzolkin, solar year and Venus cycles. This 104-year cycle is the Venus Calendar followed by the ancient Maya at cities such as Palenque and Chichen Itza. It began when Venus rose as morningstar in the east on the Sacred Day of Venus, One Ahau. This occurs only once every 104 years. Because this gradually falls out of synchronization, problems arise. The Maya developed complex corrections, and to explore them would detract from my simple presentation. The Venus Calendar was destroyed at the time of the conquest. In my book I have reconstructed the Venus Calendar, and have asked the question "when is the next Sacred Day of Venus?" My method was very simple. We simply have to locate the next time Venus rises as morningstar on the tzolkin day One Ahau. We know what tzolkin day it is because the ancient count of days is still being followed in the highlands of Guatemala by over one million traditional Maya. The count they follow is the same one followed by their ancient predecessors, those who built the great Classic cities such as Tikal and Copan. In other words, despite what many believe, the Maya are still very much alive and continue to track time according to the ancient count of days. The count that comes down to us today, still used by day-keepers among the Quiche, Cakchiquel, Tzutujil and a dozen other groups, has been followed unbroken for almost 3000 years. This information can be found in Barbara Tedlock's excellent book, cited above, or Munro Edmonson's Book of the Year . (1988). Furthermore, this was the universal Mesoamerican count also followed by the Yucatec Maya, the Toltecs, the Zapotecs of Monte Alban, the Aztecs and the Olmec as well. This is not a question even subject to academic debate, and is not very surprising considering the great continuity and coherence of Mesoamerican civilization. So, knowing the true count of days, we can look at a planetary ephemeris and find the next date that Venus makes its first morningstar appearance on One Ahau. This occurs, precisely, on April 3rd, 2001 A.D. This would then seem to be the best choice for the next Sacred Day of Venus, to begin a new Venus Round period of 104 years.

This date is just about 8 years after the beginning point of the last katun of the Long Count Great Cycle. This great cycle of 13-baktuns ends on December 21st, 2012 A.D. Katun periods are divisions of the 13-baktun cycle, each lasting 7200 days (19.71 years). This means that the final katun of the Great Cycle, the 260th katun, the 4 Ahau katun, began on 12.19.0.0.1 in the Long Count, which was April 6th, 1993. Amazingly, Venus rose as morningstar on this day. I found it somewhat disappointing that in Dreamspell literature we were told that the final katun began on July 26th, 1992. This was simply wrong, and was quite apparent because even without a calendar one will notice that the interval between July of 1992 and December of 2012 is larger than 1 katun cycle. The fact is that the true beginning point of the last katun synchronized with a Venus rising, and I'm uncertain why this amazing calendric conjunction, based upon the true tzolkin and Long Count placement, was overlooked.

There are many Mayan mysteries to still be fathomed. Every year we learn more and more about the ancient cosmological knowledge of the Maya. Scholars are now limited by there own limited understanding of universal principles and processes, and the interpretations emerging from academia are at best disingenuous. My book is an attempt to address and elucidate some of the deeper possibilities implicit in Mayan Studies.

Critical Junctures, Solar Max and the 260 day Tzolkin calendar

Quote
The Theme

In short MAC calendrics (Maya-Meso-American Calendrics = MAC) is about tracking natural cycles and bio-rhythms that in essence guide the evolution of all things. These cycles are detectable to anybody interested in investigating. These cycles have themes associated with them.

The themes are repeating and they happen at every scale of the energy-matter spectrum. For example cell division is the thematic equivalence of a woman giving birth, a couple separating or a business opening another branch.

Those examples are acute transitional stages in the process of life’s unfolding and they are characterized by hyper-activity and distress. There are many other themes, but the theme particular to the present time is crisis. Crisis implies the search for resolution and relief. Transformation, birth, rebirth, emergence (emergency) and transition are also themes closely related to crisis and resolution.

proof or not proof that the Earths orbit has changed?
« Reply #6 on: February 11, 2010, 21:54:36 »
A lot of ancient structures/buildings seem to have been built with alignments to the sun. if the number of days in the year has changed then the Earths orbit would need to change. if all ancient solar observatories still align with the sun then the orbit has either not changed or may have changed then equalised out back to its original orbit.

if ancient sun observatories were built during any changes or different orbits then they will not align, so although they may look like an observatory they may not now work but still is a solar observatory! Its almost as good as the Dark Stuff arguments (Dark EnergyMatter), it cant be seen, cant be measured, cant be proven but HAS to be there :)

Abu Simbel

The innermost room with four statues of the seated gods Ptah, Amun-Ra, the deified Ramses II, and Re-Horakhte (from left to right), constitutes the actual sanctuary of the temple. The temple's orientation is arranged in such a way that twice every year, on 22 February and 22 October, the earliest sun-rays shine exactly through the entrance on the back wall of this chamber, illuminating the statues of the gods.

What was important about those dates for the ancient Egyptians, was Abu Simbel built when the sun/earth was in a different alignment?

Quote
The Temples' Relocation
Done through the combined efforts of the Egyptian Government and UNESCO, the relocation of the Abu Simbel cost over 60 million US dollars and lasted four years. The temples were cut up into huge slabs at their original site, each slab weighing over 3000 kilograms. The slabs were then moved to higher ground very gingerly to avoid damage. At the new site, the pieces were carefully reassembled, taking into consideration all the elements that had been in place at the original site including the accurate construction measurements and the position of the sun.

On the 21st June during the summer solstice the first rays of the sun light up the edge of a megalith found to the left of the central doorway connecting the first pair of chamber to the inner chamber of the Lower Mnajdra Temple. At the same time at Hagar Qim sunlight passes through a hole known as he oracle hole which opens onto a chamber on the northeast side of the structure. Here the sun’s rays project a disk of light onto a stone slab at the entrance to the apse. As the minutes pass the disc becomes a crescent, then elongates into an elipse, then elongates still further and finally sinks out of sight as though into the ground.

Hang on. On Dec 22 the Sun shines through a gap in some mountains or a building and illuminates some object or depiction, etc. This is because the Earth is tilted 23 degrees to the ecliptic. The distance to the Sun or the rotational velocity of the Earth does not matter. Thousands of years ago the Earth tilted at a different angle due to precession. Just a few thousand years ago the difference in this angle of tilt to the present day tilt would be small, however any observatory built 13,000 years ago would have had a very different site of that object that measured the fall of the Sun's rays at maximum extent. That is if there was no change in the dynamics of the Earth's orbit.

In fact there were a large number of such observatories that just used a vertical stick and marked the maximum extent of the shadow. A South Australian government astronomer G. F. Dodwell 1879-1963, did a huge study of such sticks and produced evidence that scientifically calculated expected readings that these sticks should have produced were in fact different to the actual readings and the further one went back in history the more the readings were out from what was expected. He concluded that the Earth was totally at a different tilt just 4,000 to 5,000 years ago, but he was a devout christian and relied on the great pyramid for this conclusion. But his evidence, to be found in a South Australian library, is proof that the Earth was disturbed in it's orbit and slowly changed or corrected to form today's situation.

the earth on tilt
« Reply #8 on: February 12, 2010, 02:51:55 »

my thinking is if the orbit of the earth changes in an electric universe then its tilt is likely to change. earths orbit/spin/tilt being set by its part as a component in the solar system circuit, any large changes would affect this? the different scenarios suggested such as Saturn Configuration / God King Scenario, (and Mo's) etc the current/energy flowing and especially being transformed by each component could change dramatically

other possible factors discussed such as interaction with Mars (transferring of water/material) should have huge changes on the electric earth. would massive atmospheric/phsyical changes also affect our earths component nature - making it more resistive/conductive? a huge amount of salty water either from the EU/Mars or from inside the earth would have a massive affect, also more/less mass

i also wonder about which sun they might have been using, the sun we have at the moment, the same sun but if the solar system has changed in the EU then the sun might be larger/smaller/red etc, saturn as the original sun...

i think the distance to the sun does matter - if we are closer/further away then it is likely the days in our calendar will shorten and the important solar days of the equinoxes/solstices will change. even if the tilt stays the same but the orbit changes then if a solar observatory is built during a shorter or longer calendar then the orbit now will not align it to a significant day that we now have

perhaps ancient solar observatories can be used to reverse engineer likely planetary and solar system configurations? if you feel its certain that Solar Observatory Building number 4 and 11 (SOB4 and SOB11) are a solar observatory and aligned to a solstice/equinox then you can work out where the sun (which ever sun it was or solar system configuration) might have been. if they dont match now you can then have a guess or give options as to what/where/when you think they might align to.
so working out starting solar system configurations (scenarios) and their different possible variations (scionarios) is important i feel. perhaps you have to start or can only have it very simple, and only do it with the earth and the sun. it will be hard to work out where the planets could be unless the idea mentioned by Gary Gilligan (not sure if any one else wrote this or thought of it first?) in his book Comet Venus is true, that the Pharaohs/temples might have recorded where the God King Planets were at specific times/events. you can then work them in to the scionarios to see if it all fits.

if there has only been a slight constant change in the earths tilt then i feel that this is even harder to explain in an electrical universe with all the EUology of catastrophes, changing planetary configurations etc. unless i suppose these all happened a long time ago and the earths tilt has not been affected rapidly since then, just slowly changed. i may be wrong (its getting late and i will re read what i said again tomorrow to see if it makes any sense!) but if there is no significant change observed then that has to be really explained by EU people. Especially if Gravity/orbits/tilt are an EU effect?

Dodwell's Gnomoms

Ian Tresman
Tue, 18 Feb 1997 08:31:58 -0400 (AST)

Is anyone familiar with the unpublished work of G.F. Dodwell?

Dodwell made a study of gnomons, and in particular of the recordings of the shadows cast by them. Gnomons can be used with considerable accuracy to determine the latitude of the observer (the angle between the gnomon and the line which bisects the longest and shortest shadows) or Earth's tilt (the angle between the longest shadow and the line which bisects the longest and shortest shadows). He compared the tilt from "gnomon measurements" with the formula of Simon Newcomb, and found that as they got more ancient the departure between the two became more & more pronounced.

Is anyone aware of Dodwell's unpublished book, or any reviews of his findings?

coral fossils show 400 day years
corals can grow shells or rings similar to trees in that it shows scientists how long or short ring periods were for that coral. fossil coral shows the history of the world and solar system at that time.

some coral grows its ring or shell every month, some every year and some every day.

i was watching a program about the moon and it showed some fossil coral where there were 400 days in the year. the scientists obviously stated that this showed the earth spun much quicker than today.

how about if the earth did not spin any or much quicker or slower but was orbiting the sun at a different distance? how about if the earths year was longer back then?

virtually impossible in a gravity universe but lets pretend its an electric universe ...

Devonian period evidence of earth in upheaval
« Reply #10 on: May 19, 2012, 00:37:23 »
lets use wiki to give us some info on what is known as the Devonian period. if you ignore the dating they give but take it that these things happened at the same time whenever that was.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Devonian

Quote
The Devonian period experienced the first significant adaptive radiation of terrestrial life ...Fish reached substantial diversity during this time, leading the Devonian to often be dubbed the "Age of Fish"

Catastrophe Evolution or the Earths Morphic field changing and creating new forms of life to adapt to the new solar system and worlds energy?

Quote
The period is named after Devon, a county in southwestern England, where Devonian outcrops are common. While the rock beds that define the start and end of the period are well identified, the exact dates are uncertain ... In nineteenth-century texts the Devonian has been called the "Old Red Age", after the red and brown terrestrial deposits known in the United Kingdom as the Old Red Sandstone in which early fossil discoveries were found.

Red sandstone and red stuff is a sign of electric universe activity or catastrophe - think arizona, aussie outback, Malta's red rocks and Mediterranean Terra Rossa, Mars etc

Red is also the colour of energy for plants, most plants where growth and action is happening is red.

Quote

The Devonian has also erroneously been characterized as a "greenhouse age", due to sampling bias: most of the early Devonian-age discoveries came from the strata of western Europe and eastern North America, which at the time straddled the Equator as part of the supercontinent of Euramerica where fossil signatures of widespread reefs indicate tropical climates that were warm and moderately humid but in fact the climate in the Devonian differed greatly between epochs and geographic regions. For example, during the Early Devonian, arid conditions were prevalent through much of the world including Siberia, Australia, North America, and China, but Africa and South America had a warm temperate climate. In the Late Devonian, by contrast, arid conditions were less prevalent across the world and temperate climates were more common.

The world changed during this time and quite quickly, if you reduce the time frame for their Early and Late Devonian. Dating and carbon dating is based on a stable newtonian solar system when we have had monstrous catastrophes and radiation bursts from events in the skies.

Quote
The first tetrapods appear in the fossil record in the ensuing Famennian subdivision, the beginning and end of which are marked with extinction events.

BOOM.

Hot and cold and all sorts of stuff :)

Quote
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Devonian#Late_Devonian_extinction
A major extinction occurred at the beginning of the last phase of the Devonian period, the Famennian faunal stage, (the Frasnian-Famennian boundary), about 364 Mya, when all the fossil agnathan fishes, save for the psammosteid heterostracans, suddenly disappeared. A second strong pulse closed the Devonian period ... The reasons for the Late Devonian extinctions are still unknown, and all explanations remain speculative.

There is no missing link for man, we are the missing link. The earths energy changes and so does life. In an electric universe one of the effects of the changes is that the earths year could get longer or shorter. Gravity is a by product of electromagnetic energy. Gravity is the weakest of all the natural forces.

Why was it so important to keep track of days, motion of the sun and planets?

Why such effort by the ancients when it does not make that much difference if you do not know the precise day the equinox or solstice is? Summer is summer, winter is winter and a few days here or there for knowing the shortest or longest day can not matter that much?

Why was it so important for the ancient civilisations to keep track of days, motion of the sun and planets? Each civilisation seemed to put an amazing amount of effort and importance on tracking the sun and planets through the sky, knowing what day it was.

The ancients all talk about the Planet Gods fighting each other, wars in heaven, thunderbolts of the gods, Doomsdays etc. When looking up at the sky how can they even start to imagine that those specks of lights are gods that had wars with each other and brought catastrophe to the earth?

Unless it was a different world and solar system back them? If it is not a Newtonian Solar System and Universe and it is an Electric Universe then the Earth and the other planets could have changed their orbit.

If planets did change their orbit would this have been the precursor to potential earthly and heavenly catastrophe and Doomsdays? Hence the very important need to keep an eye on the motion of the sun, moon, planets to see if they have veered of course and disaster could soon strike the earth?

Why the Earth previously had a calendar with 360 days?
Why the Earth previously had a calendar with 360 days?

This theory on why we use to have an ancient 360 day calendar or 360 days in the length of a year can also apply to the present 365 days for year.

This quote does not explain the change and increase of 5 days but gives a natural reason as to why a universe and nature that tries to get or attain balance would give planet Earth with its Moon companion an orbit round the sun of 360 days.

The Triple Point of Water of is important to the life on our planet and the life of our planet Earth. And so is planet life.

Quote
How the Earth-Moon System Acquired Its Ancient 360-Day Orbit

The twelfth story of our celestial skyscraper of cosmology concerns how the Earth-Moon system acquired its ancient 360-day orbit, some 92,250,000 miles from the Sun. This location for the Earth is in the middle of a 15,000,000-mile slot in the Solar System. In this narrow slot, and only in this slot, water neither boils constantly (as on Venus) nor does water freeze permanently (as on Mars.)

This "slot" happens to be the one and only favorable location in the solar system where chloroplasts and chlorophyll can function. And where a planet can be greened. But we are getting ahead of our story.

Whether by chance or design, the Earth was dropped into that marvelous, advantageous slot. It was 92,250,000 miles from the Sun, just 25,000,000 miles from Venus where surface temperatures rise to 700° F. The Earth was dropped off into "the slot" due to its previous distance from Little Brother and due to the geometry (and geography) of capture by the Sun.
