wave cut platform islands

alexander island, washington, USA - wave cut platform island

wave cut platforms, wave cut terraces, wave cut plains, erosion platforms are found by the sea shore but also higher up on islands above the sea. are these wave cut platforms the result of wave erosion and rising/falling sea levels? can you find multiple terracing with a sloping intersection or are they mostly stepped? if they are stepped then how has that occurred?  ultra fast sea level or land mass rising/falling?

or are they evidence of electrical machining?

wave cut platform beside the sea may appear to be obvious but what of the stunning wave cut platform islands. how do they have such flat tops? why has the land around it been eroded away yet these remain?

Isla de Alborán: wave cut platform island

wave cut platforms Isla de Alborán

The Spanish owned Isla de Alborán on the Alboran Ridge in the Alboran Sea (the western part of the Mediterranean sea) is an amazing little wave cut platform island. As you can see the surface is very flat. If this was created by waves and erosion how come only this little section is showing? Why does it not have sloping sides or multi level terraces?

wave cut platforms islands sea geology - Isla de Alborán

The island of Alborán is said to be volcanic according to geology, notice the sloping strata yet the top of the island of Alboran is flat and the sides have caves in them.

Is the top surface of island of Alboran a different mineral to the rest and that is why it has survived and created this platform? Or is the surface so flat because it has been effected by a massive electromagnetic force and the mineral has changed? Was the island of Alborans top EDM's away to create what geologist would call a wave cut platform island?

Isla de Alborán geology

With the sloping and curving strata why is top so flat and it does not appear to have any high spots or slopes or trenches reflecting this?

Isla de Alborán ridge sea geology

This image of the sea floor around the island of Alboran and the Alborán Ridge show how amazing the Isla de Alborán is. According to geology the ridge would have to have all been above the sea and the whole area eroded away then sunk beneath the waves or only a very small spot was pushed up above the sea and then somehow its top was made this smooth.

Perhaps this is a gEULogy deposit then it was EDM'd?

Obviously according to geology theory the formation of the Alboran Ridge and the Island of Alboran had to be a very long time ago. How is the surface of Isla de Alborán still so flat? Why is there not another island of the same size close by?

Another wave cut platform island but not as good as the Island of Alborán as its by the coast so geology can say erosion etc. But its still a stunning bit of gEULogy.

Again the question is why only this bit left? Why so flat on the top?
