Title: Malta's synclines - large and small

Synclines in the Mediterranean area - Malta

Fomm Ir-Rih Bay, Malta photographs (http://www.electricyouniverse.com/eye/index.php?level=album&id=79) - more superb images of this bay, beach and syncline

Malta has a number of synclines, the most spectacular is at Fomm Ir-Rih Bay (itself perhaps the most stunning of places both physically and visually on the island) and there is another smaller one but in the same style just down the coast. Although it is only a couple of miles away is it not a lifetime away in geological terms and how come it is similar?

There are others around the islands of Malta including Mizieb, Mgarr, Bingemma and Falka.

how was malta's syncline formed? (http://www.everythingselectric.com/forum/index.php?topic=253.msg1091#msg1091)

Title: Dingli cliffs Malta - syncline

Dingli cliffs Malta - syncline

syncline in Malta's Dingli cliffs

There is another smaller syncline in Malta found along the Dingli Cliffs, right where the Dingli Cliffs silos/cisterns/tanks (http://www.everythingiselectric.com/dingli_cliffs_malta_photographs_tanks_templebuilders_phoenicians_romans.html) are found

syncline/fault in Malta's limestone

notice again how the top area does not seem to be affected by the stress/strain/movement/displacement of the strata below it. shouldnt the top layer or surface show some sort of sign of bending if massive pressure and movement has formed this syncline?

was the syncline formed exactly where it is found with no "movement" or displacement of the rock? some form of electromagnetic discharge or event transforming the material in situ?

It has been raised as a suggestion on this site,
That a group should visit Malta next year, there are several of ourselves on there feeling very drawn to Malta?
Any suggestions would be appreciated, perhaps join the forum?
