Title: Malta's strange Buttes - the Qollas of Malta and Gozo
Post by: electrobleme on December 07, 2009, 17:35:26

Qollas - Malta and Gozo's weird Buttes

Malta and Gozo has a number of strange shaped hills, sort of like Buttes. The Maltese word for these is Qolla which now means odd, strange, mound shaped hill or knoll. The word itself, il-Qolla, literally means an earthenware jar with a round large belly that was used for the carrying and storage of water.

The Qollas of Malta and Gozo literally stand out from the land, either due to their strange shapes, locations or the material they are made of. Gozo has 3 Qollas in a curving line (there was/is a 4th one that I can not find and might have been eroded away by now) and Malta has a few dotted around.

The most famous of the Qollas is Salvatur Hill (the Saviours Hill) or as it was known Qolla Tal-Merzuq (Ray of Light hill). This has a strange old legend about it and may help to explain its formation in an Electric Universe.

The Qollas of Gozo

Qolla Bajda, The White Qolla, Marsalforn - Il-Qolla s-Safra, The Yellow Small Hill, Marsalforn - Tas-Salvatur Hill (the Saviours Hill) or Qolla Tal-Merzuq (Ray of Light hill)

Qolla Bajda, The White Qolla (Tony) (http://www.geulogy.com/introdis-qollabajda-tony.html) - sticking out of its beach/bay location and with iron concretions in it and coming out of it? Will these concretions keep coming out, are they being formed inside it or is there a set number?
Is Qolla Bajda the start of the formation of Qollas and the type of base that the others are built around?

Qolla Safra, twisted yellow hill (Kate) (http://www.geulogy.com/introdis-qollasafra-kate-gozo.html) - amazing shape for a knoll, hillock, butte! Why is this Qolla so twisted if its shape is formed by erosion? Where has the yellow eroded soil gone to? Is the twisting, quartz crystals and crazy colour sandstone on its top evidence of how it was really created? Is this Qolla the next stage of formation after the "Tony stage"?

Tas-Salvatur Hill, Qolla Tal-Merzuq, Ray of Light hill (JK) (http://www.geulogy.com/introdis-qollamerzuq-jk-gozo.html) - the most famous hill and Qolla in Malta and Gozo because it has a smaller replica version of the Jesus statue that is found in Rio de Janeiro (Brazil). Another twisting Qolla but with an old legend.

Another legend says that God punished the people of Gozo by engulfing the Island in darkness for three whole days. At the end of these three days a ray of light (merzuq) was seen coming out of the hill and it was hence called Tal-Merzuq.
Tas-Salvatur Hill - gozo .gov.mt (http://www.gozo.gov.mt/pages.aspx?page=177)

I spoke to the owner of the farm that contains Qolla Merzuq and the road that approaches it. I asked about the legend and he repeatedly told me that it was complete rubbish and stupid, then finally admitted that local people did still believe this rumour.

Why would you create a legend that no one else is going to believe and that people could ridicule you for? Unless it has some factual basis.

Was the light/volcano legend from when Qolla Merzuq was being formed in the Electric Universe or does it show that this hill is a point in the circuit and so attracts or exchanges energy with the Earth/EU?

Is Qolla Merzuq the last stage of these Qollas, the next stage after Qolla Safra (Kate)? Is Qolla Merzuq the end of the formation process or is the next stage to become a proper tabletop hill?

Gozo - the island of the three hills

Gozo's coat of arms shows 3 hills

The island of Gozo has three hills on its Coat of Arms and use to be known as the island of the three hills. You will read this quote repeated everywhere but the real questions are why only three hills and which three hills on an island of not just tabletop hills but also the strange shaped hills called Qollas?

The official coat-of-arms of Gozo... three slightly pointed hills in black, the centre hill higher and in front of the other two hills...Simultaneously with this emblem, Gozo earned its popular nickname the Island of the Three Hills probably derived from the hilly view when observed from mainland Malta.
Gozo Coat of Arms - three hills - gozo .gov.mt (http://www.gozo.gov.mt/pages.aspx?page=75)

This is the standard quote but it makes no real sense. Below are other versions of three hills or they show that it is a bit strange to call it the island of 3 hills without wondering why and which.

...the Three Hills,” but in fact, the island has numerous conical knolls, which resemble extinct volcanoes. Gozo is not only hillier but also greener than the island of Malta. Its principal town, Victoria, also called Rabat, stands near the middle of the island on one of a cluster of steep hills in an intensively cultivated area.

San Lawrenz is a small charming village on the western part of Gozo. It is built on a plain surrounded by three hills,Ta' G?ammar, Ta' Gelmus and Ta' Dbie?i. The last mentioned, Ta' Dbie?i, rises 195 metres above sea level and is Gozo's highest point.

So which 3 hills are they and why? The Coat of Arms may give a clue, for an island thats largest geology features are the flat tabletop hills why would you choose bullet shaped hills that look nothing like it? Was the motto and nickname due to the Qollas, are there a total of 3 strange shaped hills that can be seen in the same area?

Qolla Icke  (http://www.geulogy.com/introdis-maltas-buttes-qolla-icke-blue-clay.html) - a very strange Qolla (Butte) that buttes out of its landscape and appears to have a natural stone cladding exterior. How has this Qolla been formed here. Is this the start of the formation of this Qolla or what is left of the surrounding area?

Title: Tabletop Hills and Mountains - how are they formed?
Post by: electrobleme on December 07, 2009, 19:49:18
Formation of tabletop Buttes (Qollas) to tabletop hills to tabletop mountains?

Do the Qollas of Gozo show the formation process of tabletop hills and mountains in an Electric Universe?

If things are scalable in the Electric Universe this includes geology. Are tabletop mounains a larger version of Buttes and Qollas and tabletop hills? Just more power or larger EU event has created them.

it may be nothing, it may be everything - this photograph of the Roraima tepuy shows a natural ramp going up the side of the tapletop mountain. The Qollas on Gozo (apart from Qolla Bajda as its so small) and Qolla Icke on malta have a natural path/ramp up them that is the easiest way to climb them.

Table Mountain, Cape Town and Plutons

The most famous tabletop mountain in the world, Table Mountain, Cape Town, South Africa

Does the tabletop mountain in Cape Town, South Africa, show how these amazing flat topped moutains are formed? Are the surrounding hills, plutons larger versions of Buttes and Qollas. Do they show points where the EU process had its power points? Do you need a number of points in the area to create tabletop hills and mountains? Can you get just a single tabletop hill/mountain in an area with no real geology?

How are tabletop mountains formed in a gravity and geology world? How can slabs be left around the earth, remain so flat while the rest of the earth around it is eroded away. Thats a lot of earth to be eroded while the top remains large and flat.

Do Buttes, Qollas, tabletop hills and tabletop mountains look like they have been pushed through or pulled up from beneath the ground level (pen pushed through paper for a bad quick example of what it looks like). Or is the shape formed as the ground not just below but from around is pulled into the pinch effect that might have created these?

Are all Plutons a variation of Buttes, Qollas - Electric Universe activity, Electric Universe Geology - gEUlogy?

Are the nipple like hills, mountains, buttes, knolls and qollas variations of the same formation process but not erosion but going upwards or being formed in place in an Electric Universe. Do they look like the main nipple material has been punched or pushed through the soil upwards? For an image think of a pen being pushed through a sheet of paper.
